The Seaman GoogleLitTrip was created by students of the Marietta Center for Advanced Academics as part of a Book in a Day project developed by Stacey Buckalew and Susie Throop.
About the Contributors...
Susie Throop
Susie Throop, a native New Englander, has been teaching fourth grade at MCAA for four years. She has also been a 3rd/4th grade looping teaching in Cherokee County. Susie’s first introduction to computers was in 1988 when her local library put the card file on-line. Susie has a master’s degree in Early Childhood Education and a specialist degree in Curriculum and Instruction. She has maintained a class-room website for 12 years. Susie tries to connect technology with each lesson she teaches. She has accompanied some of her fourth graders to present at the Student Showcase portions of NECC and GaETC conferences. She was honored as Teacher of the year for 1998 and 2007.

Library Information Specialist
Stacey Buckalew, a Florida State Graduate, has been a Media Specialist at Marietta Center for Advanced Academics for four years. She has also been a Media Specialist at Park Street Elementary for nine years. Stacey’s first introduction to computers was as a child when her mother brought home TOPO, a robot that worked off DOS, for her to program. Stacey has her master’s degree in Library and Information Science and a specialist in Instructional Technology. She has presented at three Georgia state conferences on integrating technology throughout the curriculum and has taken students to conferences for Student Showcases on Digital Science Fair and Movie Academy. Her students won 1st place K-12 and took home a special award for Digital Citizenship at the 2008 Georgia Movie Academy with their claymation, animation, and face morphing movie on Global Connectivity. She was honored as Teacher of the Year for 2006.
